Citizen Firearms
Safety and Training Programs
A Word on Firearms Professional firearms training is one area we specialize in. Owning firearms is a
right and responsibility that we will help you benefit from. People
today and always will be concerned with protecting themselves, their
family and community. To be able to effectively protect yourself
requires skills that are not common knowledge. Moral, legal and
tactical concerns exist that require specialized professional
training. Without this training a person using a firearm for
self-defense is at a great risk. The firearm is a representation of
responsibility and power that every individual can possess. The use
of that power is what our training is all about. We believe in
promoting and developing that individual power and responsibility.
The most practical and cost effective way to gain the knowledge, skills
and ability to use firearms for self-defense purposes is to attend a
professional training course. A two-day course will spend enough time to
cover basic level concepts with handguns. A regular practice routine will
ensure good awareness, proper handgun function and dependable fighting
skills.
The majority of our students come back for advanced training. For those
of you wanting advanced handgun training we have six unique one-day courses
available specializing in developing basic skills to a high level. That's
what works in a confrontation.

We know that everyone at least once will by violently assaulted in their
lives. You may or may not have a handgun at the time of the situation, but
the knowledge, awareness and skills that you have will double your chances
of survival. This is significant. Many of our students before attending our
courses have experienced violent crime and it's losses. An ounce of
prevention equals a pound of cure.
Here at Personal Security Consulting we are not paranoid. We expect that
violent crime will happen and we are willing to stop it personally. In
addition we believe, safety from crime is an individual and social
responsibility, not a right granted or guaranteed by someone else.

COMBAT HANDGUN POINT SHOOTING
"Learn how to hit your opponent in a gun
fight with a 90 Percent Hit Rate."
Point shooting is the most effective method of
using a handgun combatively at close range. Sighted fire techniques
traditionally taught fail with a miserable 15 % hit rate in gunfights.
Organizations, like the Dallas Police department have achieved a phenomenal
90 % hit rate in their confrontations by using point shooting. The military
has proven point shooting to be effective in combat and scientific research
proves it conclusively. No other shooting system has a valid background as
strong as point shooting. This course is based on the Applegate system.
Under the extreme stress of a life and death encounter body chemistry causes
involuntary muscle contractions effecting the eyes ability to focus. In the
first seconds of a confrontation the eye can not focus on the sights. The
shooter experiencing this loss of focus typically fights his handgun to find
the sights causing his gunfire to miss his opponent. This explains why so
many people trained in sighted fire fail to hit in a confrontation where
surprise and shock occur. 85% of the time the sighted shot will miss in a
sudden shoot out. When a shooter is caught by surprise we term the encounter
a reactive shooting situation. This is not to say sighted fire has its place
because it does. In deliberate shooting circumstances where the shooter is
temporarily safe and has time the shooter may be able to calm down and aim
using the sights. This is normally rare in legally justified self-defense.
This basic handgun course teaches three basic handgun point shooting
techniques. The environment and context of the training always centers on
the concept of shooting under extreme stress and the student’s automatic
responses that are likely to occur. Drawing from a holster is covered in
detail. A fast draw is an essential skill to ensure that the student learns
the importance of a first round hit or taking the opponent at gunpoint
before the situation escalates to a shooting. Movement drills are
immediately integrated into basic shooting to teach sound tactics.
The Basic Combat Handgun Point shooting course is a 6-hour course. 150
rounds of ammunition are required and two handguns are recommended. The
extra handgun is in case the first malfunctions or the student may enjoy
working with a second gun for more experience. $150 two weeks prior, $175 on
the day of training is the tuition rate. Private classes are conducted for
$350.
Students attending this program should have
the handgun first steps program or basic handgun knowledge and safety
experience.
